Moncobra has been awarded mechanical assembly and piping of the Direct Reduction (DR) tower, a key facility in the new steel production plant that Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe is building at its industrial complex in Duisburg, Germany.
The plant will have a production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year of Direct Reduction (DR) iron and has been designed to operate 100% with green hydrogen, representing a decisive step towards more sustainable steelmaking. Thanks to this innovative technology, a reduction of up to 3.5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year is expected, contributing significantly to decarbonization of the sector.
